PRORURE project presented at the Green Week Future Forum 2020

January 2020

The theme of this year's Future Forum at the Green Week in Berlin was "Civil Society Engagement in Rural Areas". The results of the PRORURE project were presented in an experts’ forum.

PRORURE I developed a European network to strengthen civil society involvement in rural areas under the moderation of Open Europe Consulting. PRORURE II aims at institutionalising the PRORURE network for advocacy at European level in order to strengthen the voice of citizens in rural areas in Europe.

Challenges and opportunities of PRORURE were discussed with experts and interested parties in a forum that took place on the first day of the Green Week Future Forum 2020 in Berlin. 1200 participants of the Future Forum showed great interest, particularly in the topic “volunteering”. In the morning, the German Minister of Agriculture, Julia Glöckner, opened the Future Forum and addressed, among other things, existing opportunities for funding civil society involvement in rural regions of Germany. At the evening reception hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the topics were discussed in greater depth in a relaxed atmosphere.
