Impact evaluation of the EU project "Let's CHANGE"

October 2018

On 23rd/24th of October 2018, the successful kick-off meeting of the EU project "Let's CHANGE" took place in Berlin. The project is directed against the practice of female genital mutilation in Europe. OEC is responsible for the impact evaluation of the project.

Female Genital Mutilation and Cutting (FGM /C) is a worldwide practice - see map. The project "Let's Change" addresses practicing diaspora communities in Europe. The activities include i.a. the training of change agents who work locally with affected women, as well as train-the-trainer seminars for professionals. The aim is a holistic strengthening and promotion of the affected girls and women, and raising awareness of the health, psychosocial, sometimes even fatal consequences of FGM/C.

TERRE DES FEMMES (Berlin) is in charge of the Let's Change project, the project partners are Plan International Deutschland (Hamburg), the Dutch organization FSAN (Amsterdam) and the French NGO Equipop (Paris). The partner organizations demonstrate an urgent need for a sustainable change to ban FGM/C. Let's CHANGE has already built its foundations on 2 previous projects. However, more important now is a meaningful IMPACT evaluation. Results will be available only two years after completion of the project.
