On October 2nd 2018, OEC held a symposium in Sarajevo together with NODA Intelligent Systems and IGT (Institut na gasnu tehniku) on the subject of "Digitalisation of district heating networks in BIH".
The main objective of the symposium "Digitalisation of district heating networks in BIH" was the exchange of experiences between municipal energy suppliers, specialistic institutes and universities. In addition to numerous interesting lectures, the visit to KJKP Toplane – the energy provider of the Sarajevo city, was on the program.
The introduction of smart heating grids is suitable for reducing energy consumption. This, in turn will help to reduce the heavy air pollution during the winter months. The city of Sarajevo has recently signed a framework agreement with UNDP to develop the city as a smart city. That's why the initiative for digitizing district heating comes at the right time.
